Michigan football has early edge on OT Jordan Diamond; 2Pac fan causing trouble for Pac-10's website plans and more
At 6-foot-7, 278 pounds, Jordan Diamond, a junior offensive tackle for Chicago Simeon, has a slew of scholarship offers from Division 1 schools, including Michigan.
And Michigan has an early recruiting edge, writes Sam Webb in an article for the Detroit News.
Webb quoted Diamond, who said: "I'm in the process of getting some old film from Michigan. I'm really excited. They've got the old coaching staff back from when they won the national championship with Coach (Brady) Hoke."

I love it D21, now for simplicity sake we can refer to either era as BW and AW, heck, seems biblical to me and I'm not even religious. Although, I am spiritual, to U-M sports that is! I also love how collectively many of us have developed an interesting lexicon up in here!!! TiM, Go Blue!!

Speaking of good posters I have to say that you two are one of my favorites and I consider you my posting family, and we can't stand the "crusty" comments, the burnt tater tots and the poems that have no clout. Can't wait for the Hoke era to officially begin in September. Later my buds and GO BLUE!

Mick, Yes, so many great posters in here. Am so sure that in a few more years, the prominent scientists & archaeologists will come out in droves not to propose but to demand that the ridiculous sounding B.C.E (Before Common Era) and C.E. (Common Era) be replaced with B.W. and A.W. GO BLUE! Hoke Is It.

There is a good article for Dusty to read ... the espn piece on Nebraska's Lavonte David trying to bulk up and gain weight before the Big Ten season. Seems the guy is trying to go from 210 to 230 in the offseason ... something Dusty seems to think is not possible unless it's all fat. There you go Dusty.

Without the assistance of illegal drugs, the human body can build no more than a pound of muscle per week. Assuming this guy is doing things properly, if he started on January 1st, he could build 35lbs by September 1st. But to build 20 lbs over the same time frame, Lavonte David would have to put on a little over a half a pound per week to accomplish that, about .57lbs/wk, a manageable task with discipline.

I think that 2Pac fan will flip his domain for a million or two. Normally, this is done a lot cheaper, but if he is actually selling things from the site, it makes it a little more problematic. Anyway, the Pac Whatever has plenty of money for a settlement.

@Jude, I agree with you on the unsportsmanlike foul, I think that rule is foul. To take away a score because of a subjective call, unbelievable! Also, so if a receiver gets the ball on place kicks, you can gang tackle him, a smaller guy, but not the bigger lineman? Some of these rules are just plain stupid. I hate that 10 second run-off in the pros too, now they got to bring it to college? In addition, I want to nominate Meangoblue for poet laureate of U-M Football for his outstanding efforts lately.

(paraphrased from SI article) New rules for the 2011 season: 1. "Unsportsmanlike foul" now a spot foul, potentially negating TDs (wasn't this in play in 2010?). 2. Televisions added to coach's boxes to help coaches decide whether to challenge plays. Proposed new (or newly revised) rules for the 2011 season: 1. Umpires moved to officiate behind running back (from the middle of the defense). 2. No blocking below the waist to the inside for receivers and running backs. 3. 10-second runoff penalty for penalties that stop the clock in the last minute of the halves. 4. No "Intentional Grounding" call if receiver is in the relative area where the ball was throw (ball no longer needs to be catchable to avoid the penalty). 3. No gang-tackling (3 or more defensive players) of an offensive lineman on place kicks. Most of these rules I don't mind, but I hope they vote against the revised "Intentional Grounding" rule. I imagine we'll see less sacks because of this. Maybe that, the safety of the quarterback, is the rules intent. Also, unsportsmanlike penalties should not be capable of taking away a score. I've seen some refs throw a flag for things only a ref could see as unsportsmanlike. I'm curious, if a receiver or a running back has a break away, so much that he can walk into the endzone, if he chose to saunter the ball in, would that be a penalty?

it just started watch the 2012 class. hoke team will be in the top ten easy. they will have more scholarships to offer. so of the current players might drop out or transfer. this is due to the system not the staff. then he can get a flux of his type of players in. what you see this year will be different in 2012 team. have faith and do the wait and see thing.

Interesting story about Emory Bellard, creator of the wishbone. RIP. After the wishbone became a bit less popular in the 1980s (as opposed to the 70s when it was all the rage), Bo started to integrate it more in to Michigan's offense...mostly on short yardage and some goal line situations. I really liked it when they faked the ball and then threw long out of that formation on short yardage....which didnt happen very often but it was cool then they tried it.
