Michigan goaltender Shawn Hunwick among 77 players on Hobey Baker Award fan ballot
Shawn Hunwick is one of 77 players on the fan ballot for the Hobey Baker Award, given annually to the nation's top college hockey player.
The fifth-year senior goaltender -- who is currently 23rd in the nation in goals-against average (2.38) and 25th in save percentage (.918) -- is the only Michigan hockey player on the list.
The early vote leader is Minnesota-Duluth senior center Jack Connelly, who is tied with a nation-best 33 points (12 goals, 21 assists) through 20 games.
Votes are being accepted at hobeybakeraward.com, with the first phase of fan balloting running through March 4. After reducing the candidates to a final group of 10, the second phase of voting runs through March 16.
The fans’ vote accounts for 1 percent of the total ballot in each phase in selecting this year’s award recipient.
