Michigan names Chaka Daley as men's soccer coach
Chaka Daley, who coached Providence to five NCAA tournament appearances in 12 seasons, was named Michigan men's soccer coach Friday.
Daley led Providence to an 11-8-1 record last season, and the Friars beat Dartmouth, 1-0, in the first round before losing to University of California Santa Barbara. Daley’s teams went 90-111-27 at Providence, with 72 of the victories coming in the last seven seasons. He’s a former professional soccer player who saw some Major League Soccer action with the New England Revolution in 1999.
Daley replaces Steve Burns, who coached the first 12 seasons of Michigan’s varsity program and then resigned in November.
