Bleacher Report columnist says Denard Robinson duped football nation; MSU has nothing left to prove against U-M? and more

Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson is dropped for a loss by Michigan State's Chris L. Rucker during third quarter action of the Spartan's 34-17 win over Michigan.

Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson is trying to put his three-interception, 86-yard rushing performance in a loss to Michigan State behind him.

Tom Baer, a featured columnist for the Bleacher Report, is doing the opposite.

Writes Baer, "Sparty is not Connecticut, Notre Dame, Massachusetts, Bowling Green, or Indiana. Instead, Michigan State boasts a defense capable of defending the pass and the run, something the Wolverines aforementioned opposition could not do. In short, Robinson accumulated his gaudy statistics against teams that are defensively challenged."

Without D Rob we would be 3-3 right now for sure, perhaps 2-4 because UMass was a struggle too...he has made that much of a difference for a really bad team, and without him we would be completely dead, not just on life support. He doesnt deserve that type of criticism from the bleach report.

Duped? Are you kidding me? Was that title written for shock value? Denard missed some reads...he is a tremendous football player. No one is perfect, not even him but he is the real deal and thank goodness we have him.

I agree, Ghost. He looked like what he was suppose to look like the first time he played a capable defense. We should not think for a second that Denard is a great or even good passer. His strong-suit is running the ball not throwing. It was apparent when he tried to go deep, there was very little precision or touch on his passes. The Spartan defense has been known to have a weak secondary and a more competent passer should've diced them a bit. I know we had some drops but they contained our one man offense pretty easy and they don't even have a pass rush.

I didn't get to watch the game on Saturday but I wasn't surprised by the final outcome. As a U-M fan, I would have hoped for a different result, but MSU has built a fine team and the school should be proud of the efforts and, hopefully, will have a great year. The only school I have an enduring dislike for is OSU. As for Denard, he's done nothing except play exceptional football on any of several previous Saturdays. He's come down to earth a bit but he was not engaged in duping anyone nor is he a fraud. He's done what exceptional players do against poorer teams. What more can anyone ask for? Throughout all this, he's been quite humble and has avoided the spotlight. I believe MSU has given him the opportunity to improve and learn from his last outing but this year will still be a struggle for a relatively weak Michigan team. I look forward to his senior year there. Then we can talk about who was duped by whom.

Denard didn't "dupe" anyone. Poor choice of words by the Bleacher Report. The media created the hype machine, not the University, Denard, other players, or even the fans. Denard has accomplished incredible things since last year and only having 6 starts. He's going to have off-games this year. He's still learning for Pete's sake. I'll be he learned a TON from the game on Saturday and will come back much stronger against Iowa. And yes, his numbers will probably be less gaudy. The important thing is gettig the W, and I'm SURE Denard "gets that".

Thanks for the recognition from the MSU fans. I have to disagree with the Bleacher Report writer though. Denard was a few bad passes from having gaudy numbers again. While I have the utmost respect for MSU's defense, they guys Denard was throwing to ball to when he was intercepted were in fact open. They were simply bad passes. Denard is only a sophmore and to ask him to have to carry this team is a burden. I look forward to the future and watching these young player mature.

I have to agree. As an MSU alum, I have the utmost respect for the way Robinson has carried himself on and off the field. He is among my favorite players in all of college football...a real class act! Best wishes going forward DR!

As an MSU Spartan I want to relay to the Maze and Blue folks, the respect I and my friends have for Denard's efforts and sportsmanship on the field. We like this kid and expect to watch him on Sundays some day.
