Recent Saline High School graduate Taylor Ford is having a good 2011.

Ford was the diving medalist at the Division I state championships this spring and, more recently, placed first in the 16-18 age division at the 2011 Junior National Diving Championships in Knoxville, Tenn.

Ford dives with Legacy Diving, based at Eastern Michigan, and is coached by Buck Smith, the head coach of the Eagles.

“I’ve been coaching Taylor since she was 8," Smith said. "She’s tough on herself and a hard worker. Most divers now are power divers, but Taylor scores well by being graceful.”

Ford is Legacy Diving’s eighth junior national champion. She will dive at Ohio State this season.
