Two-time National Hot Rod Association Top Fuel champion Scott Kalitta and his cousin and fellow dragster champion Doug Kalitta, were inducted into the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday.

Scott Kalitta, who died in a racing accident in June 2008 at age 46, had 18 NHRA national event victories and in 1994 won four consecutive national events. He was the son of Connie Kalitta, the owner of Kalitta Motorsports and a hall of fame inductee in 1985.

Doug Kalitta, who lives in Ann Arbor and still drives for the Ypsilanti-based Kalitta Motorsports, has 32 NHRA Top Fuel victories.

“It’s truly an honor for me to be inducted alongside my cousin Scott and join my Uncle Connie in the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame,” Doug said while accepting his induction plaque. “Our family is very proud to be a part of the great history of racing in the state of Michigan.”
