Spring is here: Michigan softball home opener is Wednesday vs. EMU
If you were looking forward to basking in our record-high temperatures while watching the Michigan baseball and softball teams' home openers this weekend, you just got an earlier opportunity.
The softball team has added a Wednesday game against Eastern Michigan (9-14) to its schedule. The Wolverines (17-9) will play their first game at Alumni Field at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
"We thought we would take advantage the great weather we have been having," coach Carol Hutchins said in a statement. "This will be a great chance for our fans to get out and catch us in action for the first time."
The Wolverines will open Big Ten play with a Saturday doubleheader against Penn State. The first game starts at 1 p.m. Those teams return to Alumni Field for single game at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Michigan baseball team opens a three-game series against Indiana IUPU-Fort Wayne at 3:05 p.m. Friday at Ray Fisher Stadium. The teams will also play 1 p.m. games on Saturday and Sunday.
