Junior guard Jenny Ryan is scoring more for the Michigan women’s basketball team, and coach Kevin Borseth has noticed.

Ryan, a junior guard who averaged 7.3 points a game last season, has reached double figures in three of Michigan’s last four games, including 13 points in a 72-44 victory Saturday against Indiana State.

Borseth welcomes the additional scoring from Michigan’s leader in rebounds (6.5 per game) and assists (4.5), calling Ryan “an efficient scorer.”

“That’s just a mentality,” Borseth said in an interview on MGoBlue.com. “I think Jenny’s probably been a kid that has deferred her whole life. She’s handled the ball, she’s gotten the ball in the hands of the scorers. Defensively, do the things she has to do.”

Michigan (10-2) plays host today to Illinois State in a 1:30 p.m. game.
