Landing Mitch McGary shows that John Beilein has Michigan in position for success

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Even without the announcement Thursday that highly recruited power forward Mitch McGary plans to join the Michigan basketball program, CBSSports.com college basketball insider Jeff Goodman is impressed.

Michigan, Goodman writes, is in good hands with John Beilein this season. Add McGary next year, and it's only going to get better.

From Goodman:

Whatever the case, though, McGary is heading to a Michigan program that is dangerous this season -- and could be downright scary in the next couple of years with the addition of a monster in the middle. Even without (Darius) Morris, Michigan should still be a factor in the Big Ten race this season.

Michigan plays host to Wayne State at 7 p.m. tonight in an exhibition game, then opens regular-season play Nov. 11 at home against Ferris State.
