Michigan basketball team moves up to No. 10 in AP poll, 5 Big Ten teams among top 15

By AnnArbor.com Staff

One day after the Michigan basketball team moved into a share of the Big Ten title, the Wolverines joined their conference co-champions in the top 10 of The Associated Press top 25 poll.

Ohio State (25-6) is at No. 7, Michigan State (24-7) at No. 8 and Michigan (23-8) at No. 10.

Ohio State and Michigan State hold the same positions in the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll while the Wolverines are No. 13.

Michigan moved up three spots in each poll after a week that include road wins at Illinois and at Penn State.

The Big Ten Tournament, which runs Thursday through Sunday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, will include five teams ranked in the top 15 of the AP poll. Wisconsin (23-8) is at No. 13 and Indiana (24-7) at No. 15.

Wisconsin, which finished one game out of the three-way Big Ten championship pack, still finished its regular season one spot ahead of Michigan (No. 12) in the USA Today/ESPN poll. Indiana is No. 15 there, as well.

Kentucky, Syracuse, Kansas, North Carolina, Missouri and Duke are in the top six spots of both polls.
