Former Michigan football star Chris Perry, mother sue real estate manager in North Carolina
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Jury selection is beginning in a lawsuit over lost plaques and photos former Michigan football star and NFL veteran Chris Perry says were dumped in landfills.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported Monday that jurors will weigh the case Perry and his mother filed after his family home in Advance was foreclosed in 2003.
The lawsuit alleges that before Irene Perry could remove her personal items, a real estate manager hired by the mortgage lender changed the locks and emptied the contents of the home. The lawsuit says some of the property was dumped in landfills.
Perry won the Doak Walker Award and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy in 2003 as a running back at Michigan. He was a first-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals and spent five seasons with the NFL team.
