Michigan vs. Virginia Tech: Pick the winner of the Sugar Bowl
By AnnArbor.com Staff
Michigan is the winningest program in college football history, but no other team has won more games since 1995 than Virginia Tech.
Those teams meet Tuesday night in the Sugar Bowl (8:30 p.m., ESPN) and the Wolverines are a 3-point favorite. What do you think?

Yeah that spread offense doesn't work in the big ten.. Oregon offense 45 points, 621 total yards,345 yards rushing.... Wisconsin Offense 31 points. Wisconsin had over a month to plan for Oregon's offense.. Oregon has a smart offense. Michigan's future offense safe and stupid

Spread schmed. Chip Kelley is a good coach, regardless of scheme. Our 'spread' coach wasn't...so he earned getting fired.

And Wisconsin had a scrambling quarterback- the best in the big ten this year and he was as much a runner as a passer. That's why they scored 31 points but they couldn't keep up with Oregon all out spread.

You get it. A team like Oregon trashes the big ten's best defense and some people want to go back to a Lloyd Carr, john Nevarre offense. They don't get it that the only reason Michgian sucked last year was defense. Even with about the worst defense in the nation they made it to a bowl game- only because the offense scored a lot. In the game against Ohio state it was the offense that bailed out the defense. There are going to be some sad Michigan men once Denard leaves and they realize what they miss.

Hey ted, That's not the same Wisconsin defense that allowed MSU's 'safe and stupid' offense to score 37 and 39 points in two games, is it? Or allowed OSU 33? Oregon is not the only team to ring up big numbers against Wisconsin...their defense has let them down plenty this year. True, Oregon is a good football team, but they're not the best and they have been consistently been shut down over the years by the teams that are in that elite category. The spread can work if run correctly (it wasn't at UM - 8 points per game against OSU will get anyone fired), but isn't a guarantee of success by any means. How many NC's has Oregon won? Oh, that's right...ZERO.

You should go be an Oregon fan then. At their current pace they will win the Rose Bowl again in 2107, as they last won it in 1917, 95 years ago.

Michigan better win. The Big Ten is embarrassing itself the Bowl season. Up to the Rose Bowl which has not been played at the time of this comment, no Big Ten team distinguished itself by its Bowl play.

- Fitz and Denard share MVP honors, as each runs for 315 yards. - Denard adds 403 yards of passing. - The defense doesn't give up a first down until the fourth quarter, and then it's just to be neighborly. - Mike Martin has 11 tackles for loss. - At halftime VT changes their nickname from "Hokies" to "Jokies". - Keith Jackson comes out of retirement to call just one more Michigan game. - Goodyear and Budweiser blimps have a dogfight over the staduim over which gets to be overhead during the game. - After the third quarter Urban Meyer asks ESPN if he can have his job back. - Final score: Meeeeeechigan 97, VT 1 (a charity point). Go Blue!!!!

I like the thinking, Bornin. While the predictions above didn't materialize as written, they came true in spirit. UM 23 - VT 20.
