Depot Town is in the historic heart of Ypsilanti.

Today, AnnArbor.com takes a significant step toward expanding our local coverage with the addition of a page of news and features dedicated to Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township.

The new page combines our existing coverage of the Ypsilanti area with new features to present a comprehensive package of local news and information to residents.

On the page, you'll find breaking news and sports stories, coverage of schools and government, and features about the people and institutions that make Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township unique.

The page includes statistics about the city and township, links to local resources and photos from around the area. You'll also find links to coverage of high school sports teams in the Ypsilanti, Lincoln and Willow Run school districts.

We’re also inviting Ypsilanti area community leaders and residents to share their news with us. Look for the “Got News? Tell Us” portal and submit a local story.

You can help us make this page a hub of information for Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township. Give us your feedback. Post information you think is important. Call or e-mail us with your story ideas.

Just a heads up on this new page: the link marked "Ypsilanti" along the side of the home page goes nowhere and I've learned today that many people don't know to look under "All Topics and Neighborhoods." If A2.com were to link that side listing to this new page I think you'd have a lot more readership here.

I am glad to see the new Ypsilanti/Ypsilanti Township page. Currently the news, demographics, etc. are all about the City of Ypsilanti. Maybe until you get a chance to provide the information about the township you should call it Ypsilanti City. Just a thought.

It amazes me that the demographics for the City of Ypsilanti and the Township of Ypsilanti are exactly the same! Really, can someone clean that up? also, the school data is pretty old... Other than that, GREAT JOB!!!

This is great news. Also, there needs to be a better distinction between Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township - two different elected bodies. There is scant coverage of the township - most news is about the city happenings. Also, news coverage of what the elected officials are doing helps keep them accountable to the people who pay them. Wih no news coverage, they tend to do as they plese.

>> Ann arbor.com should strive to become a deliverable, daily >> newspaper. There is,sadly, avoid in the lives of Ann Arborites.LT AnnArbor.com is the reason there is no daily deliverable. Google for Ann Arbor News To Close and you will find out all about it. As long as I can still get my Sunday paper, that is fine with me.

Wonderful! I do a lot of shopping in Ypsi. It's a great place that doesn't get enuff good press. I live in A2 and love it, but I also love Ypsi. The small, unique shops are every bit the equal of A2's. And it's not just Depot Town either! Michigan Ave. is filling up with awesome stores.. and the parking is FREE!!

Yes - it is nice to see AA.com is going to give more positive, in-depth coverage to Ypsilanti...and not just scrape the police beat for the latest robbery or shooting. Hmmm! How about an article about the lower vacancy rates downtown? Maybe something about the Ypsilanti DDA group and their goals? Readers might find it interesting to read about some of the Ypsilanti Library's more successful programs. The Senior Center is a wonderful gathering place with some interesting events....and on and on. So, I for one am looking forward to it.

This is good news, and from Eastern Michigan University's standpoint, too. Many, many county residents go to school and work here. And our graduates stay in the state.

This looks like fun! We, in Ypsi, feel pretty second class with the current news coverage.

Thank you so much, AnnArbor.Com. You seem to be improving all the time and your decision to devote a page to news in Ypsilanti is a huge step forward as far as I'm concerned.

This is a great idea. But please put the crime reporting at the bottom of it and the good news at the top to put Ypsi in a favorable light!

Thank you. I have felt short-changed (whether justified or not) since Ann Arbor News took away our Ypsilanti Press many years ago, with a lot of promised that were not fulfilled. I have high hopes for this new project and thank you for initiating it.
