Cherry Republic opens store at corner of Liberty, Main in downtown Ann Arbor

By Nathan Bomey

It's a delicious day for cherry lovers in Ann Arbor.

Cherry Republic, a Michigan-based retail chain, officially opened its first Ann Arbor store this morning.

The company, which sells cherry-themed items of all sorts, renovated the space formerly occupied by Occasionally Gift Shop, which closed in February.

Here are a few images from the store's first day at its new location on northeast corner of Main and Liberty streets in downtown Ann Arbor.

Looking forward to trying some of the serious cerise treats! I hope at least some of them are organic, as cherries have one of the highest pesticide residues.

While one could argue the definition of a berry, cherries usually are not considered berries any more than a peach or plum is.

All non-organic berries are high in pesticides, unfortunately. Cherries is only one of many.
