Dynasty Buffet closes in Glencoe Crossing Shopping Center on Washtenaw in Pittsfield Township

By Angela Smith

Dynasty Buffet closed near the end of February. The Glencoe Crossing Chinese buffet saw a decline is business after the opening of a new Asian restaurant located just down the street, said April Davis, McKinley Property's leasing director.

Asia City Restaurant, located at 2905 Washtenaw Ave., celebrated its grand opening for its 400-seat restaurant on February 6th, 2010.

Another competitor, Ichiban Steakhouse, was added to the Glencoe Crossings Plaza in 2007.

Davis said Dynasty's owner, listed at Ji Fu Yang in state documents, decided to close once his lease expired. Dynasty buffet is a New York -based franchise restaurant, and, according to Davis, the Ann Arbor location was "not its best performer".

Currently a replacement buffet looks like the top contender for the space. Davis confirmed that a couple of all-you-can-eat restaurants have shown interest in the property.

Glencoe plaza also houses a Starbucks, Quiznos, and Bistro Bar and Grill among other tenants. McKinley Properties currently lists six spaces available for lease at Glencoe Crossings.

In other local Asian restaurant news, Sze-Chuan West on West Stadium in Ann Arbor also closed recently.

Dang, this was our favorite Chinese place, and last time we were there, they said they were "remodeling." Guess I'll have to try Asia City now.

This does not surprise me. I believe the stomach capacity of their patrons exceeded the amount they could charge.

I would love to see a Golden Corral there. That is the best place for general buffet food. That other place is gross. As for this place closing? No surprise there with that huge and much better Chinese Buffet down the street. Especially with their huge selection of sushi and buffet selections. They also have a to die for dim sum as well.

BUMMER. I really liked that place. Much better food (and much larger selection) than the one near Jackson/Maple.
