Tractor Supply Co. Store sets Feb. 5 opening for Scio Township store west of Ann Arbor

By Angela Smith

Tractor Supply Co. calls itself America’s largest retail farm and ranch supply store with over 960 stores - and as of Friday, Feb. 5, that will include one serving Ann Arbor.

The new store on Jackson Road at Baker in Scio Township, west of Ann Arbor, is one of 14 nationwide openings planned in the upcoming months.

Construction on the store started in August.

Store Manager Todd Goring said the chain has locations in Saline, Howell, Jackson, and Whitmore Lake, but this newest location will better serve areas like Grass Lake and South and West Ann Arbor.

Recruiting is done, according to a press release announcing the hiring of Goring.

“(He) has a rich history with the company and has proven to be a terrific leader, so I’m delighted he will be managing the Ann Arbor Tractor Supply store,” wrote the chain’s District Manager Bill LaBean. “He has recruited a skilled team, including welding, farming and equine specialists, which will be a great asset to the community.”

The company offers merchandise for the care of horses, livestock and pets, as well as agricultural products and tools. In addition, the company sells light truck equipment, work clothing, and lawn and garden power equipment products.

The new Ann Arbor Tractor Supply Co. store, located at 7251 Jackson Road, will celebrate its Grand Opening from 8am- 8pm on Feb 12. Customers will find free giveaways that day plus drawings and raffles for gift cards, shopping sprees, and a $999 log splitter.

Shoppers can also enjoy discounts on many items including 10% off their entire purchase (up to $100) valid from February 10 - 13.

Epengar -- The link in the story has been fixed. Thanks. Belgium -- It looks like Quality Farm and Fleet was bought by TSC in January of 2002, after bankruptcy filing.

Just around the corner, no more drives to Saline for a lynch pin. I would still drive to Jackson for a Quality Farm and Fleet, but did TSC buy them a few years back? Can't find them anywhere.

As best I can tell from a little web-searching, the Quality Farm & Fleet chain went out of business some years ago. Tractor Supply Company bought at least one of their stores in Michigan, but I don't know if it bought them all.

The address link in this story points to the York Township Hall, not an address on Jackson Road.

I hope they have many hardware and garden offerings relevant to non-farmers too; nothing like some good competition to keep the creeping prices at the nearby Lowes in check!

That's funny, because I buy stuff from TSC to maintain my old US-made equipment. It's pretty hard to find those parts otherwise. And as far as I can tell, the only alternative to foreign-made equipment now is John Deere. How much is John Deere stuff? If you have to ask, you can't afford it. That's fine if you're working 500 acres plus.

The new TSC location will be a convenient location for me to buy Chinese tools and equipment.
