Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band announced today they will play a concert at the Palace of Auburn Hills on April 11.

That's the closest location yet announced for the current tour by the Ann Arbor favorite son and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member. The tour kicks off Feb. 27 with two previously announced dates in Toledo, as well as a Grand Rapids stop March 5.

Tickets for the Palace date go on sale Feb. 16. Ticket prices were not announced today, although the Toledo and Grand Rapids dates cost $70 via Ticketmaster.com

Tickets will be available early to fan club members. Information on joining is available on Seger's website.

Other dates announced today include appearances in Chicago, Brooklyn and Dayton. Those wondering about another homecoming show by Seger, who gave a memorable concert at Eastern Michigan University in 2011, can still hope: Today's announcement also says, "More dates to be announced soon."

Some dates on the current tour—including Chicago, but not Detroit, Grand Rapids or Toledo—will feature Joe Walsh as a special guest.

Today's announcement also says Seger is still working on his long-awaited new album. He has recorded a duet with John Fogerty on "Who'll Stop the Rain," to be released May 28.

Born in Detroit, Seger grew up in Ann Arbor and started his career here. He now lives in Oakland County.

I think it's more UM won't allow concerts at Crisler anymore. I saw tons of good shows there mid 80's to mid 90's...Santana, Ozzy, Foreigner, Starship, Motley Crue, Pearl Jam, Grateful Dead, Billy Squier, Night Ranger, David Lee Roth and so many more......okay...not all of them were good!

When was the last time Mr. Seger did a show in Ann Arbor?! we have Hill, Crisler, and the Power center? can I only conclude that he has forgotten where he came from. Getting too big for your britches, Mr. Rock Legend?

Or maybe, just maybe, he doesn't count his AA years as formative for him?

I asked him that when I interviewed him in 2011 before the EMU show, and he wasn't quite sure. But that EMU show, in 2011, was the first time in decades he had played in Washtenaw County--he said he made a special effort to do a show in the area.

I'd agree Saline guy. At least at EMU they let charities come in and sell beer and wine.
