Hometown rock hero Bob Seger this morning announced a second date at the Palace of Auburn Hills on his highly anticipated new tour with his Silver Bullet Band — Tuesday, May 17. Seger had earlier announced a May 19 date at the Palace.

So far, at least, the Palace is the closest the tour is coming to Ann Arbor, where the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer grew up and started his music career.

Tickets for both the May 17 and May 19 dates go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday via Ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster outlets. However, a fan club presale for both shows begins at 10 a.m. Thursday; details can be found on Seger's tour page. Tickets are $69, plus service charges. There will be a six-ticket limit.

The tour starts Friday in Toledo.

A recent poll on AnnArbor.com found Seger by far the favorite among the three Rock and Roll Hall of Fame acts with roots in Ann Arbor.

C'mon, people, he's not all that great. His last really great album was Night Moves, and why have so much loyalty to one who performs and records so rarely?

I'm sure bob could sell out a number of shows at crisler, how about an outdoor show at the big house :) like a michigan music festival where bob seger, enimen, madonna etc all play a set (but only those that went big time) a crowd that size for a weekend festival would generate a lot of business for the area :)

Please, Bob, if you can't bring your show to Ann Arbor then at least book a show at Cobo on a weekend, but The Palace on a weeknight?? Not for us middle-aged working stiffs! Wish now I had jumped on the opportunity to see you in Toledo or GR. Sorry to have to miss you this time around. Hope it isn't our last chance.

I was looking forward to seeing Seger but not there. It's like watching a show from across a really crappy version of the Grand Canyon.
