Film credit fight heats up; live Stooges being released; Huron grad's new video
The Detroit News reports that efforts to maintain Michigan's tax-credit incentive program for movie and TV production has organized a town-hall meeting tonight to discuss the issue. Chelsea-area actor, musician and playwright Jeff Daniels, who strongly supports the program, is among those expected to attend.
In the Free Press, Mitch Albom —Â another big backer of the credits —Â has a column on the issue. On MLive.com, columnist Jeffrey T. Watrick looks at some sniping between Albom and a Detroit News blog and concludes Albom came out on the wrong end.

• The Consequence of Sound blog has an item on two new releases of live music by the Stooges, Ann Arbor's legendary proto-punk band. (And hey, guys, thanks for the link!)
• The Detroit News has a good story on the Hard Lessons, who are going on hiatus after a handful of farewell dates. The News focuses on a March 4 date in Hamtramck, but don't forget the band plays the Blind Pig on Saturday.
• Jack White says he doesn't expect to form any more bands.
• So, it turns out that the reason Fantasia Barrino wasn't on hand to accept her Grammy Award was that she was upset at not being asked to be part of the tribute to Aretha Franklin.
• Clarence Clemons spoke to Rolling Stone about his health issues and the possibility of a Bruce Springsteen tour with the E Street Band next year.
• Fox Sports' annual "April in the D" contest is now under way.
• Admiral Radley's "Ghosts of Syllables" is the first music video directed by Huron High School grad and former "Lost" writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach. It briefly features Natalie Morales (she was the lead in the JGM's "Middleman" and is now on "Parks and Recreation" and "White Collar"):

• Not only is Anne Hathaway getting ready to cohost the Oscars on Sunday, she's preparing to play Catwoman at the same time.
TELEVISION
• "American Idol" revealed the first few members of this season's top 24 contestants last night.
COMEDY
• The Associated Press has a feature on John Leguizamo's new one-man show in New York, "Ghetto Klown."
