Minnie Driver and Hilary Swank in "Conviction"

The producers of "Conviction," the Hilary Swank movie that shot in this area last year, are responding to criticism from the family of the murder victim whose killing touches off the events in the movie, Fox News reports. The victim's children say they should have been consulted about the picture.

For more about "Conviction": NPR interviewed Swank and the real-life basis for her character, Betty Anne Waters, whose brother was wrongly convicted of the crime. And Swank and costar Sam Rockwell, who plays the brother, spoke to MTV.com about their on-screen chemistry.

As we reported yesterday, the movie's limited opening Friday does not include Ann Arbor, but it's expected to open here in a couple weeks.
