'Tangled' tops box office; 'Glee' sneak peek; Sondheim Q & A; and more

"Tangled," the animated Disney feature revisiting the Rapunzel story, was the top movie at the box office over the weekend, with the latest "Harry Potter" coming in second.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the Harry Potter movie, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1," continued to hold the top spot internationally. And Hollywood.com notes that the weekend is traditionally one of the slowest of the year.

Other entertainment items of note online today:

MUSIC

• Detroit Symphony Orchestra Music Director Leonard Slatkin has broken his silence on the orchestra's current musicians strike, although he doesn't really say much.

• A deluxe reissue of The Who's "Live at Leeds" now includes a full concert from the next night.

• Speaking of deluxe reissues, Gary Graff of the Oakland Press interviewed Jon Landau, Bruce Springsteen's manager, about the new "Darkness on the Edge of Town" project and "The Promise," the "lost album" that came along with it.

Paul Simon performed a few songs at a private fundraiser for Sen. Debbie Stabenow, the Oakland Press reports.

TELEVISION

• Recent University of Michigan grad Darren Criss has another big showcase on this week's episdoe of "Glee," the Los Angeles Times reports: His character, Blaine, duets with Kurt on "Baby, It's Cold Outside." If you can't wait until tomorrow, here's the video:

• EW.com interviewed a "Walking Dead" writer about last night's first-season finale.

• Yikes. AP calls it "hilarious," but there's no way on earth I'm going to watch Kate Gosselin and kids appear as guests on "Sarah Palin's Alaska."

• "Saturday Night Live" took a shot at the Kardashian sisters:

STAGE

• The Dexter Leader reports that Kathie Lee Gifford, who wrote the lyrics for the current Encore Theatre adaptation of "It's a Wonderful Life," made an unannounced visit to the show over the weekend.

• If you're a Stephen Sondheim fan, don't miss Playbill.com's interview with the great man, conducted by Playbill.com's Kenneth Jones, who happens to be my best friend from high school.

ART & EXHIBITS

• The Detroit News reports that the Detroit Institute of Arts plans to open a puppet gallery.

• The A2 Journal was on hand for the opening reception of the new exhibit at Gallery Project.

MOVIES

Ryan Phillippe has reportedly been added to the cast of "Set Up," which is currently filming in Grand Rapids.
