The yellow caution tape has been removed from the drinks menu, the bottles are lined up on the bar, and chef and owner Eve Aronoff is ready to serve. After months of waiting, Frita Batidos finally has a liquor license.
The restaurant's house drink is a mojito, according to Aronoff, but they also carry a selection of drinks carefully selected to complement Frita Batidos' Cuban-inspired menu.
"I think the food really lends itself to the flavors of the drinks and vice versa," said Eve Aronoff.
"We will carry light and dark rum, vodka, several tequilas, cachaca and gin, all of which can be mixed and matched with tropical juices and sodas, including the house ginger lime juice and fresh squeezed lemonade as well as a vast array of others."
Ginger lime juice and vodka? Does this mean fans of the original eve the restaurant can recreate their favorite ginger lime martini? Not exactly, but you can mix vodka and ginger-lime juice and come close. And Aronoff is toying with the idea of adding this favorite cocktail to the menu.
Customers can also mix rum (or any of the available liquors) with any of the signature cuban milkshakes (batidos) served at Frita Batidos, or elect to have their cocktail served in a fresh young coconut with coconut water as a mixer.
In addition to cocktails, Frita Batidos will have a selection of beers, and wines available by the bottle or the glass.
