HGTV's 'House Hunters' to feature Ann Arbor Monday night

By Jenn McKee

Both Ann Arbor and Amy Garber, an Ann Arbor-based intuitive who offers clients metaphysical guidance, will appear on HGTV's "House Hunters" on Monday, April 8 at 10 p.m.

"Last summer, I was a regular psychic reader at Crazy Wisdom Bookstore & Tea Room when they asked me if I wanted to participate in an episode of the show being taped there, by giving a psychic reading to the woman who was being featured on the show," Garber wrote in an email. "I had a lot of fun doing it, and I feel confident my reading was extremely accurate - a staff member told me later what the girl was looking for, and it was exactly what I saw and described for her in my reading."

The "House Hunters" website features some background on the buyer in Monday night's episode: "Annette has moved back home to Michigan after completing college in Chicago, and is ready to purchase her first home in the hip college town of Ann Arbor. She'd like to find something historic with vintage charm that matches her artsy personality. She loves to craft, and would like space for her crafting supplies. She also works from home, so a home office is essential. Helping her with the search is her childhood friend, Elisa."

Realtor Alex Milshteyn is featured on the program.

Tune in - or set up your DVR, since the big game will be on - to find out where Annette lands.

Shucks! I missed it - and I'm in it! If anyone knows how to see it on-line, let me know.

It turns out that the show will be re-broadcast at 10 pm and 1 am on Saturday, May 4. Then I expect it will be archived online at hgtv.com later!

Alex was my realtor during my house hunt four years ago; this young man was so helpful, dedicated, accessible and FUN that I might YouTube the episode just to catch him!

The show will also be archived online for later viewing at HGTV.com. Go blue!

In spite of the strong possibility that House Hunters is scripted - Amy is the real deal folks.

Looks like she picked the wrong show to be a part of if she was seeking to improve her credibility.

A psychic/intuitive? Don't forget to ask her opinion on the smart meters.

"Reality" TV lives up to it's reputation with this one. I love the use of the Title "Intuitive", it sounds so much more Ann Arbor than, oh, I don't know, "Snake Oil Salesman".

How ironic since no one in Ann Arbor or its surrounding area will be watching House Hunters tonight.

That's why they went with a psychic...

Thanks for not mentioning in the article that House Hunters has been outed as being completely staged including touring homes not even for sale, rehearsing "hunters'" reaction shots, and scripting the dialog. Now the Kardashians: They're totally real.

A psychic reading? Really? I hope HGTV doesn't try to make it seem like that kind of chicanery is commonplace in Ann Arbor. I know we have our share of that sort of twaddle, but I'd like to think that it's on the fringes.

Also should be noted that Howard Hanna's (and Ann Arbor's own) Alex Milshteyn is the Realtor helping Annette. http://www.annarbor.com/business-review/hgtv-show-house-hunters-are-on-the-prowl-in-ann-arbor-this-week/

If I had a tv, this sounds like fun. I will have to find it on YouTube later on.
