Ann Arbor musician Khalid Hanifi explains his song 'The Splendor of Empire'

By Jenn McKee

The Huffington Post recently asked Ann Arbor singer/songwriter Khalid Hanifi to talk about his song, "The Splendor of Empire."

"I did the best I could in 900 words," he wrote in an email.

In the HuffPo piece, Hanifi discusses anxieties at the global and personal level, including a discussion about addiction. "The habit of mind I battle in myself is the same habit I see coursing through the consciousness of my fellow Americans, and the general trajectory of the national destiny - a fleeing forward into whatever delusional allurance appears to be happiness at the moment."
