'The Voice' recap: Michelle Chamuel places second, Danielle Bradbery wins

MIchelle Chamuel performs on "The Voice" on Monday.

NBC

On Tuesday night's season finale of NBC's singing competition, "The Voice," the Swon Brothers came in third place, by virtue of earning the fewest viewer votes; former Ann Arborite and My Dear Disco/Ella Riot front woman Michelle Chamuel came in second place; and Danielle Bradbery, a 16 year old from Texas, won the prize.

Earlier in the episode, though, Chamuel performed "Counting Stars" with One Republic:

And many locals had gathered at the Blind Pig on Monday night to cheer on Chamuel as she competed on the series for the last time, performing Annie Lennox's "Why."

But Tuesday's season finale episode of "The Voice" had an additional Ann Arbor link: rock star Bob Seger, who grew up in Ann Arbor, performed "Night Moves" with the Swon Brothers during the episode.

I forgot to mention that, on the season finale, each of the three finalists was surprised by the news that they'd be awarded a new car – specifically, a Kia of their choice.

Been watching the Voice all season. I think the final order was correct. Love Michelle, so unique and fresh. Looking forward to seeing Michelle sing around here, maybe the Ark...... Love Danielle, so young yet smooth and powerful.....Will soon be a star... The Swons were ok, i like the voice of the robust brother better.... Seger still has it... I think Bruno Mars would be a great show to see..... Ok, so what is with Cher? All in all, i think the talent on the Voice was collectively better than on Idol this year.....

Thanks annarbor.com for covering a story about a person Ann Arbor and the UM should be very proud to have in the national spotlight. Michelle Chamuel is a great role model and example for aspiring musicians and performers. She has proven that you do not need to conform to the stereotypes we often see connected to the music industry. Michelle has stayed true to herself and did not let The Voice change her style. I think she has matured from her My Dear Disco/Ella Riot days, but she has done it her way. I am looking forward to seeing (hearing) more of her music career and hope that Usher is the great coach he seems to be and continues to support her. I'm hoping she will return to A2 for a performance soon!

Goosebumps to see Seger. Man I love Bob Seger. Many memories of my youth played along to numerous Seger songs. Thank you so much Bob Seger, you will forever live in my heart, mind and soul.

I watched last night to hear Bob Seger. I think the "voice" that was heard last night was that of America's 'tween population with their ten votes each and their parent-provided smartphones in hand (standard message rates apply). After all, Taylor Swift is so like, um 2011, duh. Now their thumbs can get back to trending 1D and the Biebs on Twitter. I hope AnnArbor.com continues its series, "People Who Once Lived in Ann Arbor Doing Karaoke on TV." I think it's just great.

Except that a large portion of the of the vote was based on iTunes sales of their song sales, did you know that? Danielle's were consistently in the top 10 earning her bonus points, while Michelle (the 2nd place finalist) had just one top-10.

When it comes down to it, lunging around with a mic in your hand doesn't sell a song. I would have liked the brothers to be second at least, but my favorite won last night.

Apparently standing there like a Stepford wife barely emoting does sell as song. As long as the South is still trying to prove they should have won the Civil War.

Oh nice, does this mean I get to stop hearing stories about Michelle Chamuel?

@sh1 - but then what else would he complain about? I laugh at all the negative people here making comments. There are positive people here, but they are overshadowed by the negativity. Look up a little bit by Christian D. Larson entitled "Promise Yourself" Read it, Own it and Do it. You will thank me later. I wish you all a very positive and prosperous day!
