The Storm Prediction Center gives Lower Michigan a 30 percent chance of a severe wind gust within 25 miles of any given point. The greatest chance is in the southeast corner of the state.

The Ann Arbor area could be in for some potentially severe weather, starting around 5 p.m. writes meteorologist Mark Torregrossa of MLive.

The Ann Arbor area has a 30 percent chance of severe wind gusts over 58 mph, Torregrossa writes.

The storms will develop this afternoon to our west and then move east, reaching Ann Arbor between 5 and 8 p.m., and that’s when they’ll be at their strongest, he predicts.

The art fair, now in its third day, runs until 9 p.m. Friday. It's actually four fairs, but is one big event. The fair has a history of being interrupted by storms.
