The Civil Wars

With member presale tickets set to go on sale Thursday, one of the headliners for the Ann Arbor Folk Festival has been dropped from the bill: Acoustic duo The Civil Wars, topping the bill on Saturday, has canceled all its tour dates for next year.

A statement from The Ark, which presents the festival as its major fund-raiser, reads in part, "We have received no details at this time. We're already at work on a worthy replacement and will have that news to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, you know the Festival will be terrific no matter who rounds it out, so proceed with ordering your tickets as planned!"

The presale for members and benefactors still starts Thursday. Acts currently on the bill for the 2-night festival, set for Jan. 25 and 26 at Hill Auditorium, include Lucinda Williams, Rodriguez, City and Colour, and master of ceremonies Colin Hay, plus several others. For more information on the festival or buying tickets, see The Ark website.

Something pretty serious must ave happened for them to just chuck all of their 2013 tour dates.

That's what worries me. But still, they are working on a new album, have had a lengthy tour and Joy just had a baby....so life may have just caught up with them. They need a break. I hope it's just that.
