Two Ann Arbor residents, Sherri Newpol, 44, and Julie Rabinovitz, 43, visited the Marc Sijan exhibit and got quite a surprise. After asking him if they could take photos, he took a sculpture off the wall and helped the women take this picture.

From @sarathelaundres: Storms predicted for this afternoon. My favorite thing about Art Fair, watching 'em scatter when it rains.

From @Thomashbreed: Its sure a warm day downtown at the Ann Arbor art fair.

From @msbrytni: #fingerscrossed rain, rain go away. I want to go to the art fair today :(

From @HappyFuzzyYarn: Good: my yarn is selling really well at Art Fair. Bad: I have to replace all the labels that got rained on last night. Illegible now.

From @posidcreative: headed out to the wall of humidity and on to A2 Original Art Fair (the juried one), so much for a good hair day.

On the AnnArbor.com page: From Kelly Stanis: I work and don't go anyway...to many people in to small a space...like the smaller art fairs...hope everyone has a great time though...

From Carol Clark: I LOVE the Art Fair and unfortunately can't make it this year :( It's once a year - the people don't bother me. Too bad about the weather for the people that are making it out.

From Adrienne Young: I thought there was a local ordinance that states that, if one goes to Art Fair, one is required to buy something on a stick.

From Robin M. Peterson: while wearing one's Birkenstocks.

From Nikki Gastineau: with socks!

On the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair page: From Marci Woolson: My husband and I did the entire show Thursday! Bought a GORGEOUS sea serpant from Alan Paulson! We LOVE his work!!! Makes me smile everytime I look at a piece.

On the story "The Art Fairs’ non-profit alley: an opportunity to ‘love your neighbors'": From Al Feldt: Nicely told, Pam, and your experience matches my own. I helped set up and staff one and sometimes two booths for several years and greatly enjoyed a day or two spend on E. Liberty. Some very strange people and causes at some of the booths but it is all taken in a friendly spirit. Many of those working in some booths cross over to pick up literature from someone else and sometimes sign a petition etc. My only bad experience was trying to talk to the Libertarians one year. The guy I met was just nasty. I never went back to their booth again.

On the story "Strong opening day and weather concerns at fairs' halfway point": From humdinger: The weather is always an issue with the fart fair. It is either too rainy, too hot, or too stormy. I always thought that the fair should be in the fall. I bet the sales would be higher. If I go I wait for a cool day --no more walking just on the shaded side of the street or running from tent to tent. Sometimes it takes a few years to wait for a nice day. SO stop the headlines " THE WEATHER IS A CONCERN FOR THE ART FAIR” It has always been a concern. Your point is moot. Moot. Moot.

From sirotan: I was at the art fair last night with my family when the rain hit. It rained hard for about 30 minutes at 6pm, and everyone seemed to close up their tents. Its was disappointing to find, after we had waited out the rain, a majority of the artists had not, and had already closed up shop for the night. I went home empty handed and certainly won't be back tomorrow when the big rain hits or Saturday when I'm enjoying some beer at the Summer Beer Fest.

From 81wolverine: My wife and I went Wednesday evening. Great weather and the crowds weren't too bad. There's A LOT of great art there, especially paintings, pottery, and glass. I really liked the incredible wind sculptures - I think they're at Maynard & William. Also, I saw some beautiful stone-framed mirrors in that general area. Still, we just had dinner at Palio's and didn't buy anything. I hope the weather cooperates the rest of the way, although it looks like hot, muggy, and wet weather for Friday and Saturday.
