Ann Arbor man charged in high-speed chase in Bridgewater Township
An Ann Arbor man has been charged with fleeing from police and other moving violations after authorities say he led officers on a high-speed chase in Bridgewater Township.
Patrick Rigg, 48, is charged with felony fleeing and eluding, operating without a license, and commission of a felony with a vehicle for evading Saline police officers on July 9, court records show. He is scheduled to appear in court next month.
Officers were patrolling Austin Road as part of a countywide drunken-driving enforcement initiative when Rigg allegedly drove by going about 85 mph in a 55 mph zone, reports said. They followed him into Bridgewater Township at speeds reaching 100 mph until he abruptly turned onto Kaiser Road and veered off the pavement into a field of tall grass.
A man in the passenger seat said the driver jumped out of the vehicle, forcing him to stop it by draping his leg over the center console of the car. He was not injured and was released after questioning.
Rigg was not caught, but was later identified as the driver. The case was sent to prosecutors for review.
Police suspected Rigg of breaking into a cabin near where he left his vehicle, but no charges were filed, reports said.

Good luck if the court expects to see him appear back again next month for his hearing!! He ain't that stupid, but I'm beginning to think that the court system is - how many chances does this guy get anyway?? If I'm not mistaken, this guy did the same exact thing (fleeing and eluding in a vehicle) a few years ago, and again left his passenger in the car while he took off across the fields. This guy doesnt seem to give a crap about anyone's safety!! Please, do us all a favor and get him off the streets!!
