Police Chief John Seto released the promotions last week and, among them, is new Deputy Chief Jim Baird. Baird takes over the position Seto left when he took over the head job from Barnett Jones in 2012.

Baird was promoted a little more than a year ago from the rank of sergeant to lieutenant. He joins Greg Bazick as a deputy chief in the department.

In 2013, Paul Curtis and Matt Lige were promoted from sergeant to lieutenant. Curtis now commands the night shift and Lige is the professional standards lieutenant. Lt. Ed Dreslinski was promoted from the rank of sergeant in 2012 and is the head of the day shift.

The new sergeants promoted in 2013 are Mauro Cervantes, promoted from detective; Chris Foerg, promoted from senior officer; Travis Strang, promoted from senior officer; Aimee Metzer, promoted from senior officer; Colleen McCarthy, promoted from senior officer; and Elizabeth Patten, also promoted from senior officer.

Sgt. John Elkins and Sgt. Bill Clock were both promoted to their ranks in late 2012.
