Condition of Ann Arbor teen who fell 6 stories at MSU upgraded

By Cindy Heflin

The condition of Alexandra Pew, the Ann Arbor high school student who fell to the ground from the sixth floor of a Michigan State University dormitory, has been upgraded.

Pew, 18, a senior at Greenhills High School, was listed in serious condition Wednesday morning at Sparrow Hospital, said hospital spokeswoman Kyla King.

Pew, known to her friends as Lexi, fell through the glass window in a sixth-floor lounge at North Case Hall early Sunday and previously been listed in critical condition.

MSU police said Pew, who was visiting friends at MSU last weekend, fell about 3 a.m. while playing catch with friends in the lounge.

Greenhills Head of School Peter Fayroian has said Pew is expected to recover from her injuries.

Police confirmed Tuesday night that alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Pew's family has been unavailable to talk about her condition.

Nice linkbait. Upgraded to what? Would it have been that hard to put "to serious condition" in the headline?

"Police confirmed Tuesday night that alcohol was not a factor in the accident." Funny how there is no such thing as a careless accident when alcohol is a factor. It all of a sudden would've been crime, there would've been one hundred plus readers comments with pitchforks raised and someone would've had to burn for it. Point being, no matter the circumstances why can't people accept the fact kids do dumb things (including experimenting with alcohol) and just be happy she'll eventually be okay?
