Man accused of groping three women in Ann Arbor pleads no contest to all charges

By Lee Higgins

An illegal immigrant accused of groping three women last month in south Ann Arbor is awaiting sentencing after pleading no contest to all charges in the case.

Mario Segundo-Segundo, 35, who is originally from Mexico, pleaded no contest Monday in Washtenaw County Circuit Court to three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, records show.

He has been in custody since being arrested June 30 by Ann Arbor police at his apartment in the city, jail officials said today.

On June 21, investigators say he rode by on a bicycle and grabbed a woman’s buttocks while she was jogging in the 2300 block of South Main Street. Police said he fondled two other women on June 26.

In the first of those cases, investigators said he grabbed a woman's buttocks in a parking lot at Briarwood Mall. Later that day, police say he grabbed a woman from behind while she was jogging in the 2600 of South Main Street, lifted her off the ground and groped her genitals over her clothing. In that case, the victim elbowed him to get away, police said.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have been investigating and a federal detainer has been placed on him, meaning he cannot be released, jail officials said.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 22.

I hope that AnnArbor.com follows up to see if he really is deported. It's been my experience that ICE is too busy to follow up on such a small case.

He will be sent back to his native Country "AFTER" he is sentenced here, and serves his sentence. An immigration hold will be placed on him until INS comes and picks him up for deportation. In the mean time "We the people" will be providing him with three hots and a cot along with medical, dental, and eye care as long as he remains in the custody of a United States jurisdiction. Does anyone know about what that will cost "US" the taxpayers every day he remains in custody? Does anyone know what it will cost us as soon as he is released and sneaks back over the border again? He will come back in to the USA again illegally, no question about it.

No, but I'm glad he will be heading back to his own country. And agree will probably head back as soon as he is able. It is discouraging. Love to have folks come here, but do it legally and not on my dime.

Ricebrnr Normally it would really suck but given some of the cases before jurors lately and the history of some of our local judges??? Who knows?

Well, he looks good in orange. So, he's got that going for him; and since it seems like he's going to be wearing it for quite some time, at least the fashionistas will be happy.

There is not much doubt that if this suspect were an American citizen we would be able to say much more without being censored! It just shows how we can lose our "freedom of speech" if we choose not to be politically correct!

Sounds like a pretty clear cut situation. Time to send him home to Mexico.

I'm just waiting for someone to make an un-PC remark, but it probably won't be shown.
