The 34-year-old Ypsilanti man who allegedly robbed the PNC Bank in Ypsilanti Township earlier in the week was charged with armed robbery Friday.

James Robert Murdock was arraigned on the one charge and is being held at the Washtenaw County Jail without bond.

According to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office, Murdock is currently on parole for a previous robbery conviction.

Police arrested Murdock Wednesday.

A man police now believe to be Murdock entered the bank, located at 2140 Rawsonville Road, implying he had a weapon and demanding cash. An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

U.S. Banks and law enforcement don't want people like James Murdock (is alleged to be) to just "give up" on their dreams of wealth and notoriety. No, that's why they hide the actual statistics on bank robberies: which prove that bank robbing is for losers and that little damage is done to banks (not counting tellers who have to face the real gunmen of course). No, capturing the likes of the "fierce" Mr. Murdock makes law enforcement people look good in the eyes of the (deluded and misled) public. It also gives the widespread (and erroneous) impression that banks and bankers are really just victims like the rest of us. Perfect!! Ever wonder what would happen if we just asked the question: How many bankers were captured and convicted after they collapsed their businesses in 2008? Proving: the best way to rob a bank (and an entire nation) is to own one or be a "trusted executive" working at one.

The sad part is that because this man doesn't wish to get a job and pay his own way, now all us taxpayers will pay to house and feed him. I think a little hard work is what he needs. Maybe it's time to bring back the roadside chain gangs!

Mr Murdock would have been better off playing 3 card monte to make some cash. Now he will probably end up serving hard time.
