Man found dead in Ypsilanti Township was fatally shot in head

By Lee Higgins

A 27-year-old Superior Township man found dead late Thursday in Ypsilanti Township died of a single gunshot wound to the head, and the death was ruled a homicide, Washtenaw County Medical Examiner Bader Cassin said this morning.

Sheriff's deputies said someone found the body in snow in an industrial area on the township's east side about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities have not released the victim's name.

Deputies have released few details. They have not revealed the specific location where the body was found or said that the incident is being investigated as a homicide. Sheriff's Department spokesman Derrick Jackson could not be reached for comment this morning.

Cassin said the body was found shortly after the victim died.

Anyone with information can call the Sheriff Department's tip line at (734) 973-7711.

I'm guessing with the bad weather, the WCSD has been too busty to release anything. The dear lady who passed away in the fire Thursday had her obituary posted Friday but her name was "released" the next Monday! And it's been going on ten days since they have emailed any home break ins etc or posted on the much announced Nixle site. We have heard of multiple break ins in the area, but nothing from WCSD.

My concern is that this murder will be investigated and the suspects will be arrested by the WSCD as soon as possible. To have a dead body found in a unclosed location within the Township, with little real details, is more than unsettling.

There are lots of details that have been conspiculously left out. Exact body dump location (known), reasons (known), suspects (known), etc., etc. Too bad that the family has to go through this.

I'm guessing the police have more details, just not ready to release them. (and perhaps for good reason) This is part of their job, as I see it.

Isn't the deceased from Ann Arbor area? Rick Snyder lives in Superior Township and is labeled here as being from Ann Arbor area.

No, east would be Canton or Wayne.

since its eastern ypsi township which is close to Wayne county I think "Detroit area" sounds better.

Seems to me that by posting a location that the police would have a little better chance of finding a tip from someone who may have been in the area at the time. Someone may have seen a car or person acting in a suspicious manner. Oh well hopefully they have a suspect in their sightlines and are playing a wait and see attitude?

its not the the details are not know, they are likley just not released by the police. Not uncommon in a case of this type.

It seems odd to have so few details after 3 1/2 days.
