Man steals donation jar from booth at Ann Arbor Art Fairs, police say
A 50-year-old Ann Arbor man was arrested Thursday after Ann Arbor police say he stole a donation jar from a booth at the Ann Arbor Art Fairs.
Police say the man stole a fish bowl containing cash from a booth being staffed by Friends of the Ann Arbor Skatepark at about 4:45 p.m in the 300 block of East Liberty Street, which houses booths for nonprofit organizations.
He was arrested shortly after being spotted by an Ann Arbor Area Transit Authority officer, Ann Arbor police spokeswoman Lt. Angella Abrams said.
Charges are pending.
Skatepark organizers are taking the setback as an opportunity. According to a post online, about $60 was lost, and the suspect did not have the money. The group —Â which is trying to get a skateboarding park built in Ann Arbor —Â is trying to raise double that amount by the end of the fairs. Donations can be made here.
