The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said Van Buren Township Police found Andrea Brennan, 37, of Ypsilanti and a 15-year-old boy in a car parked outside softball fields at Beck and Ayres roads about 1:30 a.m. July 10. Prosecutors allege Brennan had provided explicit material to the boy via a computer and gave him alcohol.

Brennan is accused of distributing sexually explicit material to a minor, furnishing alcohol to a minor and using a computer to commit a crime.

Brennan was a math teacher at North Middle School in Van Buren Public Schools. She is still listed in the online staff directory. A woman who answered the phone in the district's human resources said the district would not discuss employment status over the phone.

Hhhhm. I am no expert in these things, but... @PineyWoodsGuy and Paul Epstein I think the issue is not sex and the enjoyment of sex, but the power differential. Do you not think she knows how much a teen boy would covet her attentions?! A boy might not be traumatized by the attention, depending on the circumstances of course. (And in fact might be more traumatized by the reactions to the discovery of the situation.) But, I am pretty certain he would at least one day look back and recognize that he had been used by an adult. That is a very ugly and uncomfortable realization when it occurs. Granted, we can't protect everybody from all the ills of the world, but I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a teacher not to take advantage of her situation to satisfy power issues that she might have by using our children, (as much as our children might think they appreciate the attention at the time).

What I wonder is how the comments on this would change if it were a 37 year old man and a 15 year old girl.

Absolutely irresponsible to headline this article that the teacher is from Ypsilanti. This makes it sound like it is an Ypsi teacher and as a parent of two young boys in Ypsi schools, a life-long resident of Ypsi, and a person weary of bad press about Ypsi, I don't appreciate the misstatement. This should have said 'Van Buren Public School teacher', or 'Local teacher', or 'Teacher.' Frustrating.

Why did the editors choose to run a headline that included Ypsilanti? Both WWJ and WXYZ identified her by her school district, not her residence, which more clearly conveys whose students are at risk. Where Ms. Brennan resides is not as important and it causes confusion. Using "from" doesn't clarify it well enough.

Oh my god! Now he'll never be the same!! Auuckk! He will be traumatized for life, have flashbacks until he's ninety and know his precious innocence was so ruthlessly violated three full years before his on-off switch was to be activated! Auuucck! One reason things are so idiotic here in America is because we are the Western World's version of Puritanocracy to a level so over the edge that "pathological" would be an astoundingly mild word for it.

Back in the day Teenboyz didn't tell. But now the boyz have cell phones and email that their moms can read! Back in the day, before cell phones, a hot teacher, is someone to be treasured by a teen boy! No teen boy would squeal on a babe such as her! Bring her on! A teen boy can deal with her! Trust me. And the dudes, whatever their age, can relate to this post!

Wayne County prosecutors don't want her to "give it one more try, before you give up on love." They want to nip it in the bud.

2 years in jail for showing a 15 year old boy porn? Cause he would never have seen it otherwise right? Not condoning what seems to be an inappropriate relationship but I don't know why showing a teenage boy nudie pictures of a woman deserves sending someone to prison for 2 years?? Giving him alcohol is a worse offense as far as I'm concerned and that is only 60 day misdemeanor. Messed up system we have!

So, if the accusations are true and I'm reserving judgment until the trial, there are straight, female pedophiles! Hmmm!

There are straight and gay pedophiles of both genders.

Are the incidents of female teachers having inappropriate contact with students on the rise in recent years or we just hearing about it more in today's media?

Women have now won both the right and the duty to act like the rudest sort of men. The only sexual differences which are politically correct are those surgically convertible. Same sex marriage is therefore moot.
