Dorian Johnson, 22, of Detroit, and Courtney McCoy, 21, of Ann Arbor, appeared briefly before Judge David Swartz who scheduled a jury trial for both on April 8. A final pretrial hearing was set for March 28.

Johnson and McCoy are accused of knocking on the man’s door after 3 a.m. Sept. 9 in the apartment complex in the 400 block of South First Street. McCoy was apparently upset about a disagreement that occurred a month earlier.

The couple is accused of stabbing the man in the abdomen after he came into the hallway. The man, who police described as severely wounded, staggered to the BP gas station, where police and medical personnel responded. The man was treated at the University of Michigan Hospital for his wounds and was released.

Johnson and McCoy are both charged with assault with intent to murder, conspiracy to commit assault with intent to murder, possession of a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, conspiracy to commit a crime with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit assault with a dangerous weapon.

McCoy is free on bond. Johnson is being held at the Washtenaw County Jail on a $20,000 cash or surety bond.

The headline says "...Ann Arbor couple..." and the 2nd paragraph says the man is from Detroit. Just an observation.

A heart-warming story, really. Criminal empires and their alleged masterminds are best nipped in the bud.

You know what they say. The couple that that stabs together rehabs together. Allegedly.
