Michigan police involved in search behind Indiana store, won't say if they're looking for missing woman

By Cindy Heflin

Police were conducting a search behind a Toys "R" Us in Hobart, Ind., this morning but would not say whether it was related to the disappearance of Dawn Marie Fital, a missing championship pool player from Pittsfield Township, the Post-Tribune reported.

Indiana authorities did say police from Michigan were involved in the search. The Lake County Aquatics Unit was also on the scene, the newspaper said.

Fital, 45, has been missing since Monday. Greg Noack, 44, of Pittsfield Township, who is believed to be Fital's boyfriend, is being held at Lake County Jail in Indiana, where two Pittsfield Township police detectives have been interviewing him, Merrillville Police Chief Joe Petruch said this morning.

Merrillville police asked Pittsfield police to do a welfare check on Fital Tuesday night after they detained Noack and questioned him, Matt Harshberger, director of the Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety, said Wednesday.
