Ann Arbor venture capitalist and Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Snyder is expected to talk about his Michigan 3.0 vision next week during a town hall meeting at Washtenaw Community College.

Michigan 3.0 is part of Snyder's plan for reinventing Michigan and transforming the state from its industrial roots into an "era of innovation" where entrepreneurs can compete in a global economy.

The free event is open to the public and is expected to run from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday inside Room 101 of the Morris Lawrence Building, 4800 E. Huron River Drive, in Ann Arbor Township.

The event flier says a complimentary brown bag lunch and refreshments will be provided. To RSVP, visit Snyder's website or call 734-277-0078.

Snyder, who has based his campaign on being a job creator, says he has created hundreds of jobs in Michigan through his economic development leadership and venture capital work. He says he's the only candidate for governor with a 10-point business plan and the real world economic experience needed to help Michigan recover and prosper again.

Snyder has been fighting accusations that he shipped jobs overseas at computer-maker Gateway Inc. He told The Detroit News on Tuesday he plans to run an administration based on innovation, merit, competition and other sound business practices if he's elected governor.

Snyder acknowledged this week that bolstering his name recognition will be his most difficult task leading up to Aug. 3 primary.

Also running in the Republican gubernatorial primary are U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra of Holland, Attorney General Mike Cox, Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard and state Sen. Tom George of Kalamazoo.

Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and House Speaker Andy Dillon, who traded blows in a debate earlier this week, continue to duke it out for the Democratic nomination.

I still believe that Ann Arbor venture capitalist Ricky Snyder is the wrong choice! How can a man who is so wealthy and ultimately so out of touch with ordinary citizens even hope to understand what is required to turn Michigan around? Michigan is not a software application; you just don't simply hit the "update" button?! It requires understanding, knowledge, and a keen insights of the global economic situation. How a venture capitalist with deep pockets that happens to be anti-choice even hope to solve our very serious issues?

Why does " plans to run an administration based on innovation, merit, competition and other sound business practices if he's elected governor" sound crazy here in Michigan? I do not know if he is the best choice but Michigan has some major problems and our current elected leaders seem to be part of the problem.
