Did Jeff go any polling places to take pictures of people actually voting, or did he just hang out in bars? Why were all of the events held in bars?

Because the bars can accommodate like-minded crowds around candidates awaiting voting results while providing a pleasant atmosphere, food and libation. In addition bars will stay open late into the evening for those campaign enthusiasts who must wait long hours for the final ballot results. Where else would you have a crowd of unpredictable size gather?
