Man accused of shooting son in Superior Township charged with attempted murder

A man accused of shooting his son in the abdomen after a family dispute Tuesday in Superior Township is being held without bond, a Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department incident summary said.

Gary Jones, 42, is charged with assault with intent to murder in the 4 p.m. shooting in the MacArthur Boulevard neighborhood, jail officials said.

His 24-year-old son, who was shot near the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and East Clark Road, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.

Jones is scheduled to return to court March 9.

Gary is a "good man?" I am curious to know what definition of a "very good family man and father an [sic] husband" includes shooting your son in the stomach. Seriously. That's what "good" means? Attempted murder is bad enough, but his own son? At most, all of those statements about being a good family man should be in the past tense.

I have known Gary an his family for 14 years an this is so unlike something he would do. He is a very good family man and father an husband. I was in schock that this has happened to his family.
