Police identify man killed in weekend crash
A man killed in a crash Saturday in Augusta Township has been identfied as 31-year-old Courtney Barnett Pete of Ypsilanti Township, Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies said.
Investigators said Pete was driving north on Whittaker Road at 2:57 a.m. when his 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier struck a culvert, went airborne, hit several trees and overturned, coming to rest on its roof.
Pete was ejected and died at the scene of the accident south of Judd Road. He was not wearing a seat belt. Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Thomas Pennington did not have preliminary autopsy results.
