"This isn't just coming from a bunch of scofflaws who like to drive fast. … I'm more interested really in getting this straightened out than trying to tag the city for a big bill. If they move to comply, I may just decide not to pursue the remedial things." - attorney Thomas Wieder, on a threat to file a class action lawsuit against the city of Ann Arbor over setting "artificially low" speed limits on its roadways, turning them into speed traps.

"The whole thing about under-posted limits is it makes the traffic officer into a road tax collector, and makes him hated and feared. And that's wrong." - Ann Arbor motorist Jim Walker, who successfully fought a speeding ticket two years ago after he argued the city's 30 mph speed limit on Nixon Road was too low.

"The big thing was to get the hole dug. Without the hole dug, we can't really be that productive. Now the hole's dug and you're going to see the deck start taking shape." - Christman Co. Vice President Patrick Podges, on the progress of the underground parking structure being built next to the downtown Ann Arbor District Library.

“Others would have you believe that Mr. Mark is a monster that manipulates young women into relationships. Would you really believe no one else would have come forward if these allegations were true?” - Huron High School parent Susan Montgomery, speaking to the school board in defense of orchestra teacher Chris Mark, who is accused by the district of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student several years ago.
