"The process is disgraceful. There's a lot of rubber-stamping without any transparency, specifically on the issue of the city being off the hook financially. And I think it's ridiculous to have a body come in, hear a one-sided presentation, and then act without having anybody else look at it." - local attorney and activist Thomas Wieder, complaining about the lack of public input at an advisory committee meeting on a proposed hotel-conference center downtown.

“I’m not the kind of person that’s going to make change just to make a change, so there can be my stamp and my imprint and say, ‘Pat Green did this.’ That’s just not my style. I do not know enough about Ann Arbor and the culture. I’ve been there now twice over a three-day period and I would be remiss if I started to say we’re going to do this, we’re going to do that.” - newly hired Ann Arbor Schools Superintendent Patricia Green, when asked by a reporter in a Q&A session if she is planning any overhauls in the district.

“We are 100 percent solar at home, so basically, we will be getting all of our mileage from the sun. We’re going to plug into solar, power up the Volt at night, and then be able to use it during the day basically on sunlight alone.” - Saline resident Mark Hildebrandt, the owner of the first Chevrolet Volt purchased in Washtenaw County.

“It’s one thing to talk about the costs, it’s another to say how do we pay for the costs. There will be a set of options on financing, but the final decisions for that will be part of a broader community dialogue.” - AATA Executive Director Michael Ford, on paying for implementing a proposed comprehensive $465 million master transit plan for Washtenaw County.
