Pittsfield Township man admits to Jimmy John’s burglaries

A Pittsfield Township man who once worked at a Jimmy John’s pleaded guilty to burglarizing two of the chain’s establishments in Ann Arbor.

Mark Hunter, 20, pleaded guilty as charged to four counts of breaking and entering a business, records show. Police said he broke into the sandwich shops at 2615 Plymouth Road and 3365 Washtenaw Ave. in May. 

Hunter broke the glass door at both businesses overnight and stole cash from the registers, records show.

Investigators identified him through security video images taken from a business near the Plymouth Road location, reports said.

Hunter also pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree home invasion for a June incident investigated by Ann Arbor police, records show. Counts of first-degree home invasion and resisting police will be dismissed at sentencing Oct. 20.

In an agreement with Circuit Judge Archie Brown, Hunter will be sentenced under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, which allows certain felony convictions of those between ages 17 and 20 to be expunged upon completion of a court sentence. Further details about the agreement were not available in court records.
