Pittsfield Township police arrest man with cell phone stolen in robbery
Pittsfield Township police arrested a 20-year-old Ypsilanti Township man this afternoon who was in possession of a cell phone stolen in a robbery late Tuesday.
Detective Lt. Sean McCormick said police tracked down the suspect near the area of Ecorse and Harris roads using information from the victim's cell phone.
The 18-year-old woman was walking to a building in Spicetree Apartments at 11:30 p.m. when a man pushed her to the ground and stole her purse. She was not injured.
McCormick said detectives developed leads this morning, and with the help of Washtenaw County Sheriff's deputies, tracked down the suspect and stolen phone. Some other items from the woman's purse were found by the side of the road this morning, McCormick said.
The man was arrested for possession of stolen property, and police are investigating his role in the robbery, McCormick said. Detectives also are working to determine whether any other individuals were involved with the robbery, reports said.

@ffej440 While I sympathize with your sentiment, catalytic converters aren't built with intergrated GPS and transmission software which aid in their recovery. Nor do stupid thieves keep them and use them until the law catches up to them. Maybe once everything ever is tagged with RFIDs including babies that will change.

So they can track down a stolen phone, but still can't catch converter thieves from every apartment in the township. How about more patrol and less traffic traps.
