The Michigan State University student who claimed he was beaten up by members of the school's hockey team has been charged with lying to police, as well as four misdemeanors.
Brandon Carmack, 20, of Saline, was arraigned Wednesday in East Lansing on two counts of assault and battery, domestic assault and battery, filing a false police report of a felony and stalking, MLive.com reported.
Carmack's mother, Barb, sent an email to AnnArbor.com saying that her son had been beaten, stabbed in the head and arm and left with a broken nose and broken ribs during the first week of school in August.
The alleged incident occurred outside of a home on Beal Street in East Lansing. Carmack's parents told various media outlets that players on the MSU hockey team were behind the beating.
The East Lansing judge set Carmack's bond at $10,000 personal recognizance. Carmack is scheduled for a pretrial conference on Sept. 25 and preliminary examination on Sept. 28.
