Saline police arrest teens for home invasion

By Erica Hobbs

Saline police arrested two teenagers suspected of burglarizing a home on Marlpool Drive in southeast Saline earlier today.

Police Chief Paul Bunten said a neighbor called police after seeing the young men enter the home through a sliding door.

Officers arrived and caught the teens leaving the house, Bunten said. They were carrying items like jewelry, a camera and a Nintendo Wii.

Bunten said the teens are 17 and 16 years old. Their hometown was not available, but police said they aren't from Saline.

He said the 17-year-old is being held at the Washtenaw County Jail pending authorization of a warrant for home invasion.

The 16-year-old was being released to his parents and is expected to be charged with home invasion in juvenile court.

The teens are also suspected in an attempted break-in that occurred late this morning in Milan.
