So far, 4 candidates have filed for 3 seats on Saline City Council
Four candidates have turned in petitions for 3 open seats on the Saline City Council so far.
Longtime Saline resident Jim Roth was the first person to pull a nominating petition to run for the Nov. 8 general election, and his paperwork has been filed. Roth has been heavily involved in Saline's sister city program.
Seeking re-election are incumbents Linda TerHaar and Glenn Law. Former city employee John J. Heller has also filed his petition.
There are 3 seats up for grabs and candidates who want to run for a seat have until 4 p.m. on Aug. 16 to submit their petitions with 50 valid signatures for the nonpartisan election. These are two-year terms.
The council has been operating with one seat vacant since June 28, when former Council member Pat Ivey resigned his seat and left the state for a new job. The City Council has 60 days to appoint a member to finish out Ivy’s term. The council officially accepted his resignation on July 11.
