Scio Township man, victim's mother both face sexual assault charges
The preliminary hearing for a Scio Township man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl has been postponed, court records show.
And now, authorities have also charged the victim’s mother with the same crime.
Samuel Grevious
Samuel Edward Grevious, 37, remains jailed without bond awaiting a preliminary hearing on May 12 on one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person between the ages of 13 and 15.
Tips from the public led to his arrest by Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies on March 30, just a day after authorities released his photo to the media.
The girl’s mother, 36, is also charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct stemming from a New Year’s Day assault. She is being held without bond at the Washtenaw County Jail, court records show. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June.
Ann Arbor Police Detective Bill Stanford declined to discuss the investigation.
Grevious is also charged with drug possession, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license in Pittsfield Township earlier this year, court records show.

We can all make stupid decisions sometimes...Some people worse than others...But these decisions are coming from temptations...It's almost like the angel and devil on your shoulders, except the angel is not there...Just something talking you into something stupid...No matter how long you think you can ignore it, you normally end up still doing wrong! In the bible, it speaks of turning from sin, running from it! In this case, this is what my father should've did! He could've found somehwere else to live, or should I say visit, because he had a fiance and a baby girl at this time. My father is very irresponsible at times, and I think he was tired of his family, so he met with Andrea, an old friend from high school, to stay with her and her daughter, and because of that temptation, added those ridiculous terms. But the worst part about it was, Andrea agreed to these terms...I have been in the house of Andrea before, and it always seemed like an uncomfortable atmosphere

Everyone, I'm the child of Samuel "Sam" G., and my father left me with just me and my mother...Of course there will be pain and suffering all the time, but we all have to ask the lord to take the wheel in these kind of situations...I remember when I was younger I swore to myself that when he got out I'd beat him up, kill him even...But soon enough I began to read the bible and to finally start moving forward and only forward, not taking the time to look back. I began to learn the word of god, which taught to forgive, for the lord forgives us all!

I understand wanting to sheild this young child from any additional hurt I just hate that the mother's picture is not all over town. If everyone is innocent until proven guilty then it could be shame if this man if proved to be innocent. Very sad.

I wish they would list the mother and treat her the same the man involved. I know that the world we live in can be very sick but this just hits to close to home. I only pray that this is all a big mistake BUT if not we should never have to see these two adults again.

This poor child...I sure hope she has some adult in her life who cares about her enough to see that she gets the help she is obviously going to need. Shame on both of those adults, but especially the mother for not protecting her daughter. What is wrong with people?
